I bought this bike in Tauranga about 3 months ago and have done about 600kms so far. I was looking for a fast commuter for work that had the higher 45km speed limit and was also a decent hard tail mountain bike for under 4k. This was the only bike I could find that ticked all the boxes and I couldn’t be happier with it, great build quality, good components and great performance. I was a originally a bit apprehensive on the Bafang motor because they weren’t very well known for their mid-drive motors but so far its been brilliant, its fast and really quiet. A++

Turns Auckland into Amsterdam!!!. This is my self-made marketing slogan for I tell my friends when they as ask about my HikoBike Accent. All in all, apart from a few niggles, I love this bike! Here is my experience so far.
I purchased it from 99 bikes back in July when I was lucky enough that they had stock. I have since covered 1700km using pretty much every day for a 20 Km round trip to work on Auckland’s North shore, I now even opt even to ride in the pouring rain instead of taking the car. Im hooked!
The 100 Nm mid-drive motor pulls my lardy 95 Kg + Laptop, Lunch up some pretty severe hills in places. There are five levels of pedal assist. I find I only need 1-3 mostly with a short level 4 for a 100m. The 672Wh battery is said to deliver 100 Km of range. I can believe although have not depleted the battery. I generally charge every night to keep it topped off, only using between 4-15% of battery on my daily 20 Km commute.
The bike handles great. Very stable at speeds 50 Km/hr (and even faster). Great round corners. The hydraulic brakes’ 180 mm front rotor does a good job ins stopping.
One thing I like about this bike is the luggage rack. It’s not some flimsy thing using the mudguards for strength. This is bolted to the frame. The frame of course is made is no flimsy thing either.
The motor control is great with cutouts on the brakes and a torque sensor in the hub.
Mid-drives can be hard on the drive train. This one is no exception. My one wish is if it could have a shift sensor to disengage the motor when shifting. I find myself doing this using the brake switch, rather like the clutch on a motorcycle. It cuts out on those clunky hard shits and im sure will make it last longer

    Niggles.
Thumb throttle needed a trip back to the shop for them to adjust
After finding the light needed tightening, I checked the whole bike out and found quite a few loose items or screws, not a big deal but could be better QC
The standard Kenda knobbly tires were really noisy and touted as being puncture-resistant..I had three flats in a month and fixing a flat on one of these bikes on the side of the road is a challenge. I have replaced it with some schwalbe super moto-x 27.5 x 2.4 tires. Such a difference for the road. Silent, more efficient, and 1000 Km later, no flats
No Clock on the display. As a commuter, I want to know if I’m late for a meeting

Great bike. My commute is about 175 k`s per week and this bike eats it up, making it easy. The design and quality is excellent and it is comfortable to ride with heaps or power for hills, going into the wind or speeding along the flats from the 120 Nm mid mount engine. The flashing rear brake light I think, is an example of the thought that has gone into designing these bikes.
It seems very strong, well balanced and agile. I can compare with a couple of other good quality E bike brands I have owned and the Hikobike, in my opinion is better all round and great value for money.
When buying mine I ended up dealing with Oliver and Chantelle at the Hikobike office by the airport. They were excellent to deal with, very helpful.
    I highly recommend this bike.
